Nice Cream Bowls

 
With all the creamy goodness of real ice cream, this fruity imposter offers a sweet treat packed with nutrients.

From vitamins and minerals to polyphenols and antioxidants, your body needs the fructose found in fruit to stay energetic and healthy. Fruit is simply one of the most perfect foods because it’s packed with fiber, which helps you feel full for longer stretches of time. 

So, what better way to incorporate more fruit into your family’s daily intake than to create a delicious and beautiful bowl of nice cream? “Nice cream” is simply a healthy, minimal-ingredient spin on ice cream. All you have to do is blend frozen bananas with other fruits or ingredients you choose to add to the mix. Banana is a natural emulsifier, so when blended while frozen, it takes on the texture and consistency of ice cream without all the junk. Instead, nice cream offers all the health benefits of fruit disguised as a delicious dessert.  

Ingredients:

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1 bag of Trader Joe’s organic frozen strawberries
  • Trader Joe’s unsweetened shredded coconut
  • Trader Joe’s chocolate-covered sunflower seeds
  • 1 Trader Joe’s macaroon 

Instructions:
Add bananas and strawberries to blender or processor with a touch of water or almond, rice, coconut or soy milk. Blend until smooth. Scoop the desired amount into a bowl and sprinkle with coconut flakes and chocolate-covered sunflower seeds. Add a macaroon for flair. 


Ingredients:

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1/2 bag of Trader Joe’s frozen wild blueberries
  • Fresh blackberries (found in Trader Joe’s refrigerated produce section)
  • 1 kiwi, peeled and cut into chunks or whatever shape you like!
  • Pineapple chunks (pre-cleaned rings can be found in Trader Joe’s refrigerated produce section)

Instructions:
Add bananas and blueberries to blender or processor with a touch of water or almond, rice, coconut or soy milk. Blend until smooth. Scoop the desired amount into a bowl and have fun placing fresh blackberries, kiwis and pineapple chunks on top.


Ingredients:

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1 bag of Trader Joe’s frozen cherries
  • Trader Joe’s chocolate chunks (found in the baking section)

Instructions:
Add bananas, cherries and a handful of chocolate chunks to blender or processor with a touch of water or almond, rice, coconut or soy milk. Blend until smooth. Scoop the desired amount into a bowl and place a handful of chocolate chunks on top. You can even sprinkle unsweetened coconut shreds on top if you fancy!
