Dragons & Fairies

Creative City Project is transforming Leu Gardens into a fantastical world of adventure! Your group will follow a fanciful fairy through the gardens, encountering forest creatures and massive dragons along the way. A moving story centering around an adolescent fairy and her dragon friend unfold as live actors in beautiful costumes take audiences on a ¾ mile theatrical journey.  Along the way, large-scale lighting installations, lots of surprises and nine animatronic dragons await. This is an immersive, theatrical experience you won’t want to miss!

Dragons: Hidden Treasure Quest

Stroll through Leu Gardens for this daytime fun exhibit to find hidden treasures amongst the dragons. Free for members. This is separate from the Dragons & Fairies specially ticketed nighttime event.

This jammin’ musical for kids features the timeless music of Bob Marley and is based on the children’s book by his daughter Cedella Marley. Ziggy’s afraid to leave the house. He is too busy worrying about tropical storms, evil spirits, and the sneaky, hair-grabbing trickster, Duppy. But, with the help of his feathered friends, Ziggy learns that “every little thing is gonna be alright!” The legendary reggae artist’s timeless message of peace and love is shared with a new generation of songbirds.

Ecology in Action Day with the City of Orlando

Ecology in Action Day is an educational event geared towards kids ages 3 – 5 years old (although other ages are welcome as well). An educator will lead children in hands-on crafts and games, inspired by nature at Lake Lorna Doone Park, every Monday and Friday. Bring walking shoes, a reusable water bottle and a hat. All other tools will be provided. Children must be looked after an adult at all times.

Art in the Afternoon: Printmakers Paradise
Orlando Museum of Art
Friday, February 4, 1-2:30 p.m.

Kids age 7 to 13 will explore a variety of relief printing techniques using Gelli plates, vinyl and plexiglass to create beautiful monotypes that incorporate the nature within Miriam’s Garden. The kids will also view prints from the museum’s permanent collection, while learning how to sign and number their prints. Participants will learn about inks, tools and techniques as they experience the joy of printmaking.

A day filled with family fun as OMA celebrates the art of James Ransome. This FREE Family Day features hands-on art and gallery activities, storytelling, music and more. Listen as musicians from the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra perform two Symphony Storytime concerts of Just a Lucky So and So, The Story of Louis Armstrong by Lesa Cline-Ransome.

Join the staff of the Emil Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College and members of the Central Florida Astronomical Society for an evening exploring the wonders of the night sky. Program includes guided constellation laser tours of the sky and peering through large telescopes of many of the sky’s best celestial objects. $5 per person; Ages 9+ (children must be accompanied by an adult).

Learn to camp in a fun, family-oriented event. There will be tent-pitching assistance, cast iron cooking, a wildlife program, fishing, s’mores over a campfire and much more! This event is tailored for families with children ages 5 – 13. Limited to 40 participants. One tent per family; $15 per person. Meals included! Tents can be provided for an additional fee. 35th Annual Mustang & Ford RoundUp

View the wonders of the night sky! A telescope will be set up outside the library to showcase the celestial sights, and friends from the Emil Buehler Planetarium will help you spot them! No registration required.

Storytime at the Zoo

Wednesday, February 9, 10 – 10:30 a.m.

Enjoy animal stories at the Zoo along with a special visit from one of their animal ambassadors. Programs will be presented by the Orange County Library System storytellers. This free program is designed for pre-school age children. Please note that this event is rain or shine, and will be moved inside during inclement weather. Zoo admission is not included or required to attend.

Movie Night in the Park: Raya and the Last Dragon

The movie begins at “dusk” (approximately 6:30 p.m.). Remember to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to set up on the lawn adjacent to the Oviedo Amphitheater. Fresh popcorn will be provided. This is a FREE event. Show your Eventbrite registration ticket to Flippers Pizza (Oviedo location) and receive a BOGO deal, available for dine-in, curbside pickup, carryout or even delivered to the movie! 8th Annual Mardi Gras Street Party

Grab your beads and go enjoy the Sanford Mardi Gras Street Party in the ‘Famous L’ between Celery City Craft and West End Trading Co. in beautiful Historic Downtown Sanford. The parade starts on 6th Street and Sanford Avenue. Gathering starts at 3:30 p.m. and then at 4 p.m. Sashay your way down Sanford Avenue to West End Trading Co. with musicians such as Kid Dutch’s Perseverance Band and The Smoking Jackets! There will be food trucks, live music and tons of craft beer and cocktails. Proceeds will benefit Meals on Wheels, Etc.

VIP section ‘Bourbon Street Seats’ are for sale, located directly in front of the stage. There will be a cash bar with Hurricanes and Mardi Gras themed cocktails, beer, wine and a full bar for purchase.
